Will Smith, Jaden Smith and M. Night Shyamalan wrap the Humboldt County portion of 'After Earth.'

"Better than Sundance!", announced judge John Coda to the large audience gathered for closing night's Best of the Fest Award Night at the 45th Humboldt Film Festival. Known as the oldest student-run international independent short film festival in the world, the festival concluded its week-long event at Humboldt State University, on April 21.

The 45th Humboldt Film Festival, the oldest student run festival is finally here: April 16-21, 2012!

On Friday, March 30, a crowd of movie makers, supporters, and lovers filled the Eureka High School Lecture Hall for a first look at Maria Matteoli’s new feature film, The Wine of Summer.

Local Filmmakers Night, a collaboration of Access Humboldt and filmHUMBOLDT, will feature local filmmaker Maria Matteoli and her ever so romantic works of film this month. 

Director, Raymond Metoyer, of the Art Institute of California, brings his short student film "Into the Dark" to Humboldt County!

Last Local Filmmakers Night, on Friday, Jan 27th, local biologist and filmmaker, Thomas Dunklin, shared some of his environmental videos, underwater filming techniques, and a fish dish from the Smith River, where he does most of his work.

Access Humboldt and filmHUMBOLDT are proud to present yet another Local Filmmakers Night on January 27, 2012, 7pm, at the Eureka High School Lecture Hall, featuring environmental documentary by Thomas Dunklin.

What a terrific year we have had at the Film Commission: the addition of filmDELNORTE, the launching of two new websites, and the creation of Local Filmmakers Night!  Not to mention all the exciting film shoots in Humboldt County this year!   

 

Maria Matteoli's feature film, The Wine of Summer, wrapped this week!  The journey of filming in Spain, LA and finally Humboldt has come to an end.
